Lydbrook, Gloucestershire, UK, 11 May 2011 – Chronos Technology today announces the signing of an OEM Agreement with a leading global test and monitoring (T&M) manufacturer to supply its highly versatile synchronisation test & monitoring solutions for packet and traditional telecom networks.  This T&M manufacturer has global rights to sell the unit under the SyncWatch brand name.

As the mobile backhaul network evolves to support packet-based transmission, maintaining network synchronisation is more critical than ever.   If left unchecked, synchronisation errors can cause a significant loss of data and network capacity. The SyncWatch unit is purpose-built for qualifying and monitoring next-generation networks that use precision time protocol 1588v2 or SyncE technologies, as well as traditional DSn/PDH and SONET/SDH synchronisation, making it the solution of choice for service providers and network equipment vendors.

SyncWatch supports the analysis of SyncE as well as traditional synchronisation frequency output signals from a precision-time-protocol client module; the packet measurement engine is capable of analyzing the IEEE 1588v2 timing packets and reporting on a number of different packet metrics. Additionally, the SyncWatch unit supports different modes of operation for testing adapted to the service-provider’s applications, addressing the entire network lifecycle from technology evaluation to ongoing maintenance and support.
